HTML Entities In Google Snippets Still May Work
The usage of HTML entities in Google's search results to be able to make your snippets stick out is nothing different. We've noticed it in sitelinks and AdWords and we've also seen webmasters experiment with emoji characters.
Sean Murray seen Google enabling HTML entities to be viewed and placed about it in Google+, you can see it yourself on numerous ( not every ) browsers and operating systems by looking for [✨].

Normally, Google will turn off this from operating going further but we will look.
